This morning, as a spring day dawned on the beautiful Kent countryside, my mum woke up to an early Mother’s Day gift.
Possibly the best pamper package either of us had ever seen, overflowing with wild bouquets of flowers, a bottle of bubbles and two whiter than white spa robes fit for a girlie day.
Or three really…who’s counting?
So we popped the champagne and toasted to a morning well-spent in each other’s company. Sadly I won’t be with her tomorrow, so we didn’t feel even a little bit guilty about indulging ahead of schedule.
Then we slipped into our matching robes, beautifully (and so thoughtfully) personalised with our initials, and giggled our way through brunch and a few more bubbles.
You won’t be able to tell from our smiling faces, but yesterday was actually pretty hard for us all. We said goodbye to a loving grandfather, and like the superwoman she is my mum helped to hold the family up.
I’m pretty blessed when it comes to knowing strong women. My Grandma was a beacon of strength throughout the entire day, and my rockstar sister delivered a beautiful eulogy without faltering.
I’m incredibly fortunate to be able to call these women my family.
It’s lucky really, that Christy Home managed to put together the perfect Mother’s Day present. Nothing less than what she deserves, of course.
These short moments of love were so appreciated today, to say, ‘Thank You’ for being a constant support through hard times and good. A mentor. A best friend. An advisor.
For putting up with me during my ‘bridezilla’ moments, and for all the moments that are yet to come.
To mums everywhere, we love you!
