After jumping on the “favourites” bandwagon back in October last year, I’ve [rather characteristically] changed my mind about the whole thing and decided not to continue for fear of becoming trapped in a content time-loop. It’s not you – it’s me. I am the most indecisive person you’ll ever meet. In our family my mum is weirdly nicknamed, C.O.P (Change of Plan) and I guess a bit of her scattiness has rubbed off on me because now that I think about it, I’m not even sure I’ve had my mind made up about anything since the day I was born. The most immediate evidence of my inability to stick to anything is the fact that I’m already re-designing my house from top to bottom when I’ve only just finished decorating it.
I know, I’ve read all the articles too! And the SEO guidelines! And the expert tips that preach for consistency and themes and monthly features that your readers can rely on – but guys this level of commitment is giving me the shakes. I’m already two weeks late for January Favourites and to tell you the truth I’m starting to question whether I am actually genuinely fond of anything any more! Am I just waiting for the day I can include my TV remote and year-old hand cream somewhere in my Monthly Favourites?!
ALL CARDS ON THE TABLE, I absolutely hate reading Monthly Favourites posts. Like, a little part of me dies every time I read one. I would just rather read something else! So from now my favourites won’t be monthly. (Is the word, “favourites” starting to go funny for you?) They will be spontaneous and probably a little dull but I promise they’ll contain products that are worth talking about. I’m sorry I can’t be totally consistent, but if it’s any consolation I like to think I’m consistently creative?!
Pooch & Mutt Hand-Baked Dog Treats
Can we start with Maisie Moo because she’s adorable? Recently (NOT in January specifically!!) a wonderful company called Pooch & Mutt sent me a hamper of dog treats. After the initial confusion wore off I realised that my pup may actually be more likeable than me and is receiving better blogger mail than I am. She goes absolutely head-over-tail-crazy for these treats and now I’m going to have to start buying them for fear of breaking her heart. What I love about these all-natural dog treats, other than the gorgeous packaging, is that they feature titles such as, “CALM & RELAXED” and “HEALTH & DIGESTION”. The former should be given to your pup before stressful situations like vet visits, car journeys, fireworks or separation because it contains chamomile to aid relaxation and l’tryptophan, which is essential to form serotonin the “feel good” neurotransmitter. I hate leaving Moo on her own and these treats put my mind at rest as well as hers. The latter contains chicory, a natural prebiotic, which can help to regular digestive bacteria. They’re available here, and unlike other health foods for dogs they are SO AFFORDABLE at just £2.99 for the tubes and £1.00 for the Pocket Packs!!
Faith in Nature Shampoo & Conditioner
This, my friends, is a game changer for me. Since falling into the whole #fitfam thing my hair is sweaty and gross almost on a daily basis. I started washing it every day and now it goes greasy within 24 hours! I know, rookie error. I was sent this beautiful Faith in Nature shampoo and conditioner to test and it has not only stopped my hair from going greasy the day after washing it, but it has also made it unbelievably soft to the touch. It’s obvious that this shampoo is organic and natural from the second you squeeze it on to your hand because it’s runnier than normal shampoo – probably because it isn’t packed with stabilisers! I’ve been using the Seaweed & Citrus set for a few weeks now and it is so refreshing. Citrus naturally awakens the senses so it’s perfect for early morning showers, it’s free from Parabens and SLS and it’s a 100% natural fragrance. At £5.35 for a 400ml bottle it’s not cheap, but in my opinion it’s worth the cost. My hair feels cleaner, softer and totally nourished. Massive fan over here!
Bit of a weird one. I don’t think I’ve ever included footwear in a favourites post, but as we’re shaking things up here they are! I think I bought these in the sale and was obviously drawn to the sequins like a 5-year-old to Queen Elsa. I also loved that they were black and navy meaning I could wear them all day every day with everything. Sadly they aren’t available any more, but can we just talk about how awesome Zara sneakers are? Forget Adidas and Nike these are just as beautiful.
I do this weird thing where I have different beauty products in each bathroom. My en suite has my everyday shampoo, shower gel, soap, cleanser, toothpaste etc and the family bathroom is much more pamper-oriented. I’ve got my favourite Gazelli ultra saviour face mask, my Queen Tea Detox Box, my Olverum bath oil and a hella lot of candles, books and magazines for long hot bubble baths. This Aveeno skin Relief shampoo has made it into that pamper pile. It smells so yummy and it’s full of high-quality natural ingredients. I have a particularly dry and sensitive scalp and this really provides relief.
100% Pure Body Butters
I’m obsessed with these thick, natural body butters from purebodybutters.com! A couple were sent over for me to try, and this one – Cocoa Butter & Apricot Oil is my favourite. It’s so rich and creamy and smells ever so slightly of chocolate. When I first saw the teeny tiny pots I was a little sceptical – but it turns out you only need a small amount for super results. This one is rich in vitamins A and E and is supposed to increase elasticity and help with scars and stretch marks. I have stretch marks on my boobs from A) gaining weight as a teenager and B) developing breasts before I even knew what they were so I’ve been using it on those and it has definitely worked to reduce their appearance. Another winner.
Have you tried any of these products? I’d love to hear your thoughts.
