Scarlett Dixon was the cool-girl blogger responsible for the first friendly e-mail that fell into my blogging inbox. She reached out to me when she was looking for writers to contribute to scarlettlondon.com back in 2012, and we quickly discovered that our brands of entrepreneurial spirit were very similar. We started to work together quite successfully, both falling victim to big business ideas and bouncing them back and forth via e-mail. I started working behind the scenes, attending press events, reporting at LFW and writing fashion features for her blog, and over the years our friendship has only grown. She’s my go-to girl when it comes to business and she’s always supported me, so when she asked me back in May to help out with the #BloggersFestival, liaise with PRs and put together 250 goodie bags for the event, I was more than happy to lend a hand.
It was important to both of us to fill the goodie bags with high-quality products that the guests would love so I set out in search of a mix of foodie, beauty and fashion items to pack into our gorgeous tote bags, donated by Life Tonics – the event’s exclusive drinks provider.
My dear friend Jess came along to help me on the day, which turned out to be the best invitation I’ve ever made. We were greeted by what seemed like bottomless boxes of samples and after the initial excitement of seeing the products in the flesh wore off, unmistakable delirium set in! Eleanor, Danielle, Abi and Char deserve very large glasses of wine for swooping in at the last minute and forming a human production line to help me out. Not to mention for putting up with the total canvas chaos I’d created! I take full responsibility for any back pain and/or knee blisters.
By 3pm, the bags were packed and I had a chance to look around the exhibition room and chat to other brands/bloggers.
The event took place at London Conrad St James in the very luxurious Whitehall Suite. The main event space was exquisite, with exhibition tables laid out to frame a central meet-and-greet area – where bloggers posed for photographs, swept up champagne from silver trays and dipped into flowerpots full of pick ‘n mix. Just like the goodie bags, the exhibitors displayed a refreshing mix of fashion, jewellery, textiles, food and beauty and bloggers were hungry for knowledge on new AW trends, perfume releases and up-and-coming beauty brands. The event showcased networking at its very best, with all guests keen to build new working relationships and all brands poised with the products they’re proud of. Scarlett is the queen of the blogging event world, and I think anyone who attended the event would agree that it was pretty spectacular.
I want to dedicate this post to all of the amazing brands that responded to my e-mails and phone calls, and were as excited as me to be a part of the event. During the 4 months of organising I was introduced to some wonderful girls and some even more wonderful products, and I really hope that everyone who took home a goodie bag loves them as much as me. So, without waffling on for too long thank you to Green People UK, Azzy London, Deep Heat, Bravura London, Whistle Blower Clothing, Simply Be, Browhaus, Bare Minerals, OGX beauty, OXO uk, Oloves, Corkers Crisps, Metcalfe Skinny Popcorn, Clifbar and Doll White for contributing to this awesome event.
Did you attend the Bloggers Festival? What was your favourite item in the goodie bag? Have you tried anything out yet? I’d love to hear what you thought of them!
